Blank UI Panel

This error usually might to do with with a water level, a controller hardware, a firmware or config file problem

Procedure

Check: Is the back light of the UI panel off?

  • Root Cause I: Check that the water level is at the cutting bed level. The WAZER has two water level based kill switches that ensure the WAZER will not damage its self or your work shop

  • Corrective Action I: Set the water level to that of the Cut Bed.

  • Root Cause II: If the panel is not receiving power for some reason then the screen will both not display information and have no back light

  • Corrective Action II: please contact WAZER Support and let them know this detail

Check: Is the back light of the UI panel on?

  • Root Cause I: Check that the water level is at the top surface of the cutting bed level. There is a slight chance for some machines that when the left side float sensor is triggered during switching on, the UI screen becomes blank, and only the first column LEDs on the controller light up.

  • Corrective Action I: Set the water level to that of the Cut Bed.

  • Root Cause II: If you have a WAZER V1.5, please check the version of the controller. WAZER V1.5 with added sensors can only work with Ver .I and newer controllers. If WAZER V1.5 is connected to a Ver.F controller, the screen will not work.

  • Corrective Action II: please contact WAZER Support and let them know this detail. We shall provide replacement controllers.

  • Root cause III: Please check if your controller has been recently replaced. For early version WAZER with serial number starts at M18xx, newer version controllers are not reverse-compatible.

  • Corrective Action III: please contact WAZER Support and let them know this detail. We shall provide the correct version controller.

Check: Are the firmware and config file on the controller microSD card retain their original format?

  • Root cause: The controller looks for exactly the .bin and .text files to be on the controller in order to know the environment it is being run in.

  • Corrective Action: If your web browser is set to automatically open the downloaded file, it may try to open the .bin file and change its format. Please disable this feature, and download a new set from here and replace the old ones on the microSD card.

Check: Is the micro SD card compatible with the controller?

  • Root cause: the controller may not be able to find the config file because it can’t actually read the micro SD card. This could have to do with an existing card that has become corrupted or a new card that simply is incompatible.

  • Corrective Action: Download the latest firmware, and config file. Reformat the microSD card, and place the newest files on the card, see Maintenance Manual > Maintenance Procedures > Updating the Firmware and Updating the Config File

Check: Is the micro SD card installed in the controller?

  • Root cause: The controller needs both the config and the firmware file in odder to know what it is. The "STATUS 4" LED will light up after 10 seconds upon switching on

  • Corrective Action: Download the latest firmware, and config file. Reformat the microSD card, and place the newest files on the card, see Maintenance Manual > Maintenance Procedures > Updating the Firmware and Updating the Config File

Check: Is the USB plugged into your computer?

  • Root Cause: The USB cord is part of a debugging feature that is not enabled yet and can interrupt the boot process of the controller

  • Corrective Action: Unplug the USB cable from the computer and restart the controller.

Check: Are there any visibly loose wires on the orange cable going into the controller.

  • Root Cause: The orange cable carries the signal to the screen. If any one of the wires is disconnected the screen won't get the signal it needs

  • Corrective Action: please contact WAZER Support

Check: Is the UI screen bezel pressed too deeply into the frame?

  • Root Cause I: Check if the UI screen bezel is flush with the frame it sits in. If the bezel is pressed too deep into the frame, the UI board may touches the metal frame and cause some grounding fault, which in turn make the screen blank.

  • Corrective Action I: remove the rubber gasket on the bezel, and lift up the bezel and screen slightly off the frame. Then carefully re-attach the bezel and gasket

  • Corrective Action II: please contact WAZER Support
