Waterjet test Technician

WAZER is the first ever desktop waterjet cutter bringing universal cutting with digital precision to every workshop, big or small. Creating a first of its kind product was no easy feat, but since then we have proven the product and are scaling up! We are looking for an energetic, adaptable and clever team that can think on their feet to solve problems that pop up as well as work to continuously improve our systems and processes. Roles and Responsibilities
This role is split between two main focuses: first is to run WAZER’s internal WAZER job shop, while the second is to maintain all test setups in the WAZER test program.
WAZER JOB SHOP DAILY ROLE
- Complete test cuts for product development and marketing
- Prepare and maintain your “shop” to keep it running smoothly
- As the only internal customer your feedback, observations, and insight will be central to the future development of WAZER
- Participate in continuous improvement projects in the shop area to improve functionality time, improve quality, and increase efficiency
- Keep machines supplied with abrasive and remove spent abrasive. This involves lifting ~55 lbs buckets.
WAZER TEST PROGRAM DAILY ROLE
- Maintain test rigs in operation
- Collect and record data in a thorough and organized manner
- Work with product engineers to understand failures that arise
- Maintain and repair setups as needed.
- Proactively improve test setups
- Record data and log observations from test setups.
- Maintain an organized work and file space
AD-HOC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Warehouse duties will be required related to machines coming in for testing or leaving
- Preparing machines for testing by refurb team
- Packaging machines for customers as needed
- Inventory of relevant parts
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with 2D CAD – can open and manipulate and existing sketch
- Comfortable with at least one digital manufacturing tool: laser cutter, plasma cutter, 3d printer, or cnc mill.
- Strong sense of personal organization
- Ability to lift heavy (~60lbs) objects
- Don’t mind getting your hands dirty
- Ability to commute to Yonkers, NY without the need of public transportation
- Participant in the maker community or just a general DIY’er – passion about WAZER’s mission of bringing affordable digital cutting solutions to makers, small business, artisans, and schools
NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Highly functional at 2d CAD
- Experience working in an assembly facility
- Participant in the maker community or just a DIY’er
- Trade or technical background

LOCATION & ENVIRONMENT
We’ve located ourselves in Yonkers, NY. You’ll be working in an environment that is simultaneously our office, ideation studio, research lab, workshop, and final product assembly center, all under one roof. This allows us to collaborate and learn each other’s area of expertise, providing better solutions to our customers. Our facility becomes a playground in the off hours. You are encouraged to design, make, and work on whatever personal projects you may have at the time. You may see brewing equipment, race car parts, and art pieces around the office. Who knows what inspiration we use for the next problem we need to solve!
